The Child Enrichment Center (CEC) is a critical element of the Colorado House and Resource Center. Over the course of a year, families with children make up about half of the homeless population. The CEC staff and facility offer children the opportunity to escape the adult reality of homelessness and enjoy family time together. The CEC provides a nurturing environment to foster a sense of “home” and the safety and security children require. The CEC also provides essential support of the Partners in Housing's program both for Colorado House residents and additional Partners in Housing partners by providing childcare while parents attend on-site training sessions. Additionally, the CEC provides an excellent space for parents who are working to regain custody to have supervised visits. Since January 2004 we have served an average of 77 children in the CEC every month. | ||||
