Colorado House & Resource Center: Volunteering

There are always many different kinds of volunteer opportunities available at the Colorado House and Resource Center and we welcome input and assistance from our supporters and volunteers throughout the year.

Corporate volunteer days are a productive, beneficial way that many companies have participated in the betterment of the Colorado House program in the past.  On a corporate volunteer day, groups of company employees will undertake a specific, predetermined project such as painting or cleanup and will often times donate supplies as well as time and energy into these projects.

Another fun opportunity is our “Adopt-a-Room” renovation program.  With this program a group of volunteers will take on the renovation and redecoration of one of our apartment units to prepare it for the arrival of a homeless family or individual.  After basic cleaning and painting the group will develop a theme or color scheme for the unit and will locate, donate, make, purchase, and arrange all items such as furniture, bedding, wall hangings, curtains, etc. for the unit.  These projects are typically approached as weekend or multi day projects and provide employee groups with the opportunity to be creative and offer their own personal, artistic touches to the units.  These projects are a great benefit to all involved and help to make the Colorado House a more comfortable, dignified home environment for our program participants.

We also have regular opportunities for volunteers to get involved with our children’s programming by participating in special events and activities or assisting with child care and entertainment during scheduled classes and workshops.
